Carry Concealed is a way of carrying any weapon from which a shot is discharged by gun powers that a person places out of sight or tries to prevent disclosure or recognition of the firearm.
The 2nd Amendment states, "A well regulated Militia, being necessary to the security of a free State, the right of the people to keep and bear Arms, shall not be infringed." This is a highly debated topic of whether this should allow every day citizens to carry concealed or whether this was specificly for something such as our current National Guard.
Currently, 48 out of the 50 U.S. States allow some type of concealed carry law which allows a person to carry concealed. Some of these 48 states are Shall Issue which means that if you meet their requirments then they will issue you a concealed firearm perimt. Other states are May Issue which means they have discresion over who gets a liscense even if you meet their requirments. For a map of the states with their permit status and more information, see USA Carry Carry Concealed Permit Maps. To track your concealed firearm permit once you obtain it and receive email reminders when to renew it use the USA Carry Permit Reminder.
There are many different types of handguns you can use as a concealed firearm once you have your ccw permit or meet your state's requirements (Alaska and Vermont do not issue permit, you must only meet their requirements). To see your state's concealed firearm requirments, visit the USA Carry Permit Info by State section. You want to make sure that no one can tell you are carrying a concealed firearm which also means no printing. Printing means that you can see the firearm through the clothing whether you can physically see through it or your clothing rests on it or gets caught on it so that it is noticeably a concealed firearm. Many firearms manufactures create firearms mainly for the purpose of concealed carry. These are of course smaller firearms which are much easier to conceal than a full size handgun. To discuss which firearm would be the best for you, visit the USA Carry Carry Concealed Forums.
There are also many different types of ccw holsters to choose from. You should get a good quality leather or kydex ccw holster fitted for you specific gun. You spend good money for you guns so don't go with a cheap one-fits-all nylon holster. They have their places but not as a daily ccw holster. To discuss different types of ccw holsters, visit the USA Carry CCW Holster Forums.
